Work

Grafana Labs

– Present
Senior Software Engineer II
Highlights
  • Key team-member on a 15 person team which was responsible for the Grafana OnCall web and mobile apps. Led several multi-team, cross-functional projects, such as completely redesigning our authnz setup to support RBAC, support for our new mobile app, as well as several product features (ex. Shift Swaps) that I proposed and saw through from design doc to implementation and support
  • Was constantly on the look-out for ways to improve the team's processes and code quality. I proposed and built our team's first e2e tests on CI. I also proposed a new set of processes to improve the team's project management processes, making it easier to build our backlog, track in-flight work, and improve our sprint planning.
  • Worked closely with our support and product teams to address customer escalations and also give demos to new potential customers.

CircleCI

Senior Software Engineer
Highlights
  • Was a key full-stack engineer on a 10 person team that managed several high-traffic microservices + a popular open-source CLI project
  • Mentored, and regularly pair-programmed with, more junior engineers on the team
  • Within less than one month, became a key contributor to our team's clojure services (a language which I previously had zero experience in).

GrowFlow

Data Engineer
Highlights
  • Engineered a custom MongoDb data extraction script (Python) to read from 300+ Mongo databases and load into our data warehouse
  • Worked on both the frontend (React/next.js) and backend (node/TypeScript) of our cusotmer-facing analytics product. Backend work involved architecting a brand-new authorization microservice for the company.
  • Built dozens of dbt models to support our both our customer facing analytics application as well as internal BI reporting dashboards.

McKinsey & Company (Quantum Black)

Data Engineer
Highlights
  • Consulted a global CPG company. Built data pipelines to move over 60TB of data from Azure to GCP. Engineered over 2000 features, using dbt, that were used by our team's data scientists to build predictive models and BI dashboards.

Lightspeed

Data Scientist
Highlights
  • Automated the company's GTV (Gross Transactional Volume) metric calculation. Involved building an anomaly detection classification model to flag fake transactions. The V1 random forest model was then later simplied to a median absolute deviation from median algorithm to improve the model's interpretability.
  • Developed the team's Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Worked daily with advanced/expert level SQL concepts and often with large/complex queries (500+ line)

Lightspeed

Senior Software Developer
Highlights
  • Initial team member of the company's first microservice team. Involved in all early stage discussions/planning of the microservice related to infrastructure, deployment, database, monitoring, etc.
  • Developed a large portion of the initial POC in Golang.
  • Engineered a docker-compose setup to make local development of the service much more efficient
